Guard Dog Training Schools

Guard dog training schools are for exceptional dogs, of the right breed and temperament, to learn how to protect
facilities and in some cases people. The guard dog training school which you choose should use something other than
kennels -- facilities with rooms where the dogs can be housed together are better for the dogs.

Being housed in a big room with other dogs around is more conducive to healthy dogs. In addition the training
should be positive and motivational -- training which is too harsh can negatively impact the dog and make it less
effective. A good guard dog training school provides a personal trainer for each dog and where the training is
customized for each dog’s personality.

After a dog has graduated from guard dog training school they will be trained to protect places like banks,
schools, homes, etc. Protecting people is a task at which most dogs are exceptional -- once they know who their
master is (which they will learn at guard dog training school) they will go to great lengths to keep the person
safe.

Guard dog training school also provides the basis for a dog to train for more specialized tasks at a future
point. The success of guard dog training school depends on the types of dog and the experience of the trainers. The
trainers have gone to school themselves and learned how to teach dogs in a way that the dog learns obedience yet
still knows how to be assertive when the task requires.

Some dogs are not right for guard dog training school. For example, dogs that have been abused and dogs that are
too aggressive and, of course, dogs which are too small. However, dogs that are intelligent and gentle and can
learn to be obedient are excellent candidates for guard dog training school. The teaching at guard dog training
school is very intense -- because the jobs which these dogs perform are very important. The dogs and the human
teachers always develop a unique relationship because teaching dogs requires trust.

A dog that was abused in the past most likely will not trust their trainer enough won’t provide reliable
protection. The dog must be an ideal mix of assertiveness -- when assertiveness is called for -- and obedience --
when obedience is called for. Dogs that have been trained at guard dog training school are involved in sensitive
situations and must have the intelligence to know when to attack and when to stand down.
